Cardiff University is recognised in independent UK government assessments as one of Britain’s leading teaching and research intensive universities, and was ranked in the 2014 assessment in the top 5 Universities in the UK for its quality of research and 2nd for Impact. It has approximately 30,000 students, representing over 100 countries and is the 8th largest university in the UK in terms of student numbers. Cardiff School of Biosciences is ranked in the top 10 in the UK and top 100 in the world, with world leading scientists in many fields represented by two Nobel laureates and three Fellows of the Royal Society. The School is home to over 100 academic staff, 150 research staff, 160 postgraduate students and 2,000 undergraduate students.
The Frozen Ark research team, including the Interim Director, are currently based at Cardiff University. The university provides office and laboratory space, and other in-kind support, to enable Frozen Ark’s research in animal biobanking practices.
