Institute: https://www.zfmk.de/en
Biobank: https://www.zfmk.de/en/biobank
Discovering and explaining animal biodiversity is the main emphasis of Museum Koenig. Research at ZFMK is focused on taxonomy, phylogenetics, speciation, molecular biology and biogeography of terrestrial (epicontinental) vertebrates and insects. ZFMK collections together host almost 7M samples, mostly from temperate Eurasia, Africa, South America.
The ZFMK Biobank is a specialized archive storing frozen animal samples for non-commercial molecular biodiversity research. The biobank is closely linked to the morphological collections of the museum.
